Subject: GNUMail release
Hi Adam,
I've sent a gnumail annoncement on discuss-gnustep saturday night and
it
didn't go through. In fact, I haven't been able to post to the list in
a
while now (neither apps-gnustep).
Could you please post my annoncement of the GNUMail.app/Pantomime
1.1.0pre1 release on discuss-gnustep?
Here's all the text:
=======================================================
Hi,
After months of development, I'm glad to announce the first
prerelease of GNUMail.app and Pantomime 1.1.0.
GNUMail.app is a fully featured mail application running on
both GNUstep and Mac OS X 10.2. Pantomime is a complete mail framework.
Here is a small list of what has changed since the last release
of GNUMail.app:
o Reworked Preferences panel (now has a Standard / Expert views)
o Now uses the OS X 10.2 Address Book by default under OS X and
better auto-completion support when composing new mails under
OS X and GNUstep
o Added DnD support for attachments in the compose window
o New Console (Window->Console) and new multi-threading code
o Better OS X integration (using sheets, spell checking, etc)
o New About panel
o Better PGP support
o Lots of other features, bug fixes and refactorings
You can download GNUMail.app 1.1.0pre1 from:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/gnumail
Note that if you install 1.1.0pre1, you _must_ update all the
bundles (Face, Clock, PGP, etc.) that you've previously installed.
A binary version for OS X of the PGP will soon be available from the
website.
Here is a small list of what has changed since the last release
of Pantomime:
o Nearly entirely rewritten IMAP support (now faster, more stable,
handles disconnection from the server and more)
o Added SMTP over SSL support
o Added maildir support
o Fixed the CRAM-MD5 SMTP code
o Initial message threading support
o Lots of bug fixes and refactorings
You can download Pantomime 1.1.0pre1 from:
http://www.collaboration-world.com/pantomime
Here's a list of what is expected to be included in the
next prerelease (1.1.0pre2):
o Non-blocking downloads for big IMAP attachments
o Better look and feel under OS X
o Cache optimizations and faster POP3 downloading/filtering code
o and more! See docs/TODO for a complete list.
Contributions, feedback, comments are always welcomed! Also, we're
especially seeking for artists to create new icons for GNUMail.app.
I would like to thank all the people who helped me getting
this release done, especially Matt Ackeret, Tomio Arisaka,
Francis Lachapelle, Matt Neuburg, Pierre-Yves Rivaille,
Nicolas Roard, Ujwal S. Sathyam, Marc Stearman, Stefan Urbanek
and Chris B. Vetter.
Thanks a lot,
Ludovic
