I've just checked with emacs 23 and 24, and you seem to be correct.
However, I guess the code might be there for a reason. Is there any
chance you could try with emacs 21.4 and 22, too?
Ah, no need to. I've asked on #emacs, and there was some guy who still
had emacs 21.4 and 22 installed and could test-drive the code. The
behavior is the same as in recent emacsen, so I've applied your patch.
(XEmacs doesn't seem to have info-look at all.)
