Hey,
I have a couple of templates in my TeX Path. Thus, I start document by loading \input{master} or \input{letter}. I define options in files too. Fx. \input{h4pdf} is hyperref and \input{fix} is FixMe and \input{nfix} is fixme in finale mode.

I will look into your suggestion Ralf. It sounds interesting.
