Big Thanks, appears to work well!

Noticed i get a ton of theses too with automake 1.8:
  ne/oa_uai_if/Makefile.am: object `up_oa_uai.$(OBJEXT)' created both with
libtool and without

Makefile.am looks like this:

include includes.spec

my_DEFS_uai_true = -DBUILD_UAI=1
my_DEFS += $(address@hidden@)

INCLUDES += $(my_DEFS)

INCLUDES += $(patsubst %,-I%,$(INC))

noinst_HEADERS = \
        up_oa_uai.h     \
        up_oa_uai_in.h

noinst_LIBRARIES = libuaiif.a libuaiif_in.a

libuaiif_a_SOURCES = \
        up_oa_uai.c

libuaiif_in_a_SOURCES = \
        up_oa_uai_in.c

# Dynamic stuff
lib_LTLIBRARIES += libuaiif.la
libuaiif_la_SOURCES = $(libuaiif_a_SOURCES)
libuaiif_la_LDFLAGS = -version-info 1:0:0

# Note! We need '.' first in the list
SUBDIRS += . @UP_SIMULATORS@
