Hi Peter,

Thanks for the information/verification. I'm able to use the alternative autotools for configuring our OpenSpeedShop performance tool components and part of this, new, CBTF project, but not the xerces-c component. So, apparently there is something special about this particular component's configuration that causes the issue I'm seeing?

Thanks,
Jim G

internet for clues and thought I found the answer when I found
information about setting ACLOCAL_FLAGS:
ACLOCAL_FLAGS=-I /opt/newest_autotools_root/share/aclocal
But that didn't make any difference.

Hi Jim,

I have successfully used alternative autotools with (the analogue of)
export PATH=/opt/newest_autotools_root/bin:$PATH
