Can you show (or post a link) to your sources?  Specifically,
ilnclient/configure.in is interesting.

Probably not.  There are some incompatibilities between the ancient
Autoconf versions and version 2.59 and newer which might need manual
adjusting.  If we can reproduce the issues (i.e., look at the sources
and try them out) we can usually recommend fixes quickly.
