Split info files were indeed just about efficiency, especially memory
size.
The Elisp manual is one of the largest ones around. Looks like it would
be maybe 3.5mb as one file. That doesn't seem so bad to me to load as
one file locally, although I wouldn't care to hazard a guess as to what
rms would think.
