I don't know if this is any use whatsoever, but now bootstrap dies here:

iolanthe:~/src/automake =] ./bootstrap 
Can't locate object method "TIEHASH" via package "Tie::RefHash::Nestable" at
./automake.tmp line 519.

This is the temporary dependency on Perl 5.6.1 pointed out to me by Alexandre
in my original report about problems with bootstrap and Perl 5.005_003.
