[avr-gcc-list] 10Mhz clock runs 8535 at 8Mhz??

Hi all...
Sorry, kinda off topic.

Since it was the only thing in my box of bits, im using a 10Mhz crystal
osc (4pin) with my 8535.
It runs fine, but the werid thing is, from the timing tests ive done on
the output of PWM code says the 8535 is actually running at 8Mhz.

Anyone have any ideas on this??
