[avr-gcc-list] STK300 Programming Problems (Linux)

From: James R. Stiles
Subject: [avr-gcc-list] STK300 Programming Problems (Linux)

I am having difficulty programming the Atmel STK300
starter kit under Linux.

(1) I have no problems booting to w95 and using the
Atmel software. It programs correctly every time.

(2) Linux: RH 7.2 (2.4.7-10)

(3) 166MHz Pentium, 32MB Ram, parallel port connection
to STK300 board

(4) Programmer Software:
        (a) uisp-20020303
        (b) ponyprog-V1-17h-03Nov2000 (ponyprog2000)

(6) modules loaded prior to executing programmer software
        (a) /sbin/insmod parport
        (b) /sbin/insmod parport-pc
        (c) /sbin/insmod ppdev

(7) Software executed as root (still does not program)
        (a) led's flicker during programming
        (b) Erase operation appears to work. Previously
programmed device in w95 can be erased under
            Linux ?

(8) ponyprog2000 occaisionally indicates that it programmed
correctly, but this is not the case.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanking you
in advance. My appolgies if this message was reveived
in duplicate.
