Ross,

I'm using the latest CVS sources on linux as well.  I can compile and
link as you show below, but there's something wrong with the linker. 
Even though it links, the sections in the map file are all messed up. 
For example, I get a 64k SRAM section when linking for the atmega8. 
I've posted a message to the list, but noone has replied with any help.

I'd be interested in finding a solution to this problem as well.  If
anyone even has any suggestions or pointers, I'm more than willing to
do some detective work -- I'm just at a loss for what to try next.
