I am new to this list, so I am not sure if this is news or not.

avrstudio does indeed work under Linux using wine. I have a Red Hat 7.3
system with winex (compiled from source) that runs avrstudio 3.55 with
full TTY support, so programming parts with an STK500 (or similar serial
based) development system is possible under Linux.

It's likely that the regular 'table' wine from the Red Hat (or other)
distro CDs may work as well (winex is a game oriented branch from the main
wine release: http://sourceforge.net/projects/winex).

On a side note I am using gcc-3.2.1, binutils-2.13.1, avr-libc-20020630
all built from source (under Linux, of course!) to develop with
the mega128.
