Have a look at https://sourceforge.net/projects/cdk4avr/ -- a 
comprehensive AVR tool chain under Linux. It includes all the stuff you 
need to work at AVR projects in form of RPMS. Further there are all RPM 
spec files and patches you would need to rebuild each package (if you 
want). Just now CDK4AVR includes the latest development snapshot you've 
named above.

BTW Mandrake is a good choice. It's based on RedHat but not so expensive 
and (!) all the packages of CDK4AVR was building under Mandrake 8.2.
