I am using the WinAVR toolset. I downloaded it the first time you told me this. I've only tried building and got 'gcc.bat' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

WinAVR and AVR Studio are 2 different things.

But, again, you need to update your tool set to WinAVR and not use
the obsolete AVR Freaks distribution. To find out a little more what
WinAVR is and what it contains, see:
