Hallo,

would like to help to add support for new AVR devices to avr-gcc.

I am 45 years old, studying information and communication
engineering and working as developer for medical devices.

To get an overview, what needs to be done, I created the
following wiki-page:

http://www.kieltech.de/uweswiki/AVR_2dGCC

If you want to help collected informations in this wiki,
that's fine, if you don't have the time, it's fine, too.

Some questions:

1. What is the status of the AT90 PWM3 patches?
For which version of gcc they were written?

2. Shall patches for gcc 3.x be created for all new devices,
or is it better to create patches for gcc 4.x?

3. Are patches for gcc and binutils always needed, if there
is a new device, or are they needed only in curtain cases? If they are not always needed, when exactly are they needed?

For example, I want to use AT tiny46 as soon as it is available,
as we need the 4k flash it offers (and the high speed PWM).

If the size of flash is the only difference to AT tiny26,
would still patches to gcc and binutils be needed?
