Thanks for the pointer in the right direction.
It seems the gcc does what I want if I use the atxmega128a3 target
with the atxmega128a1 IO header file.
The XMEGA manual doesn't say if the RAMP* registers are cleared by
reset,
so to be sure I clear the RAMP* registers in init2, before first RAM
access.
