I've seen worse, and at least, the community there is doing fine.
It's probably the largest pool of developers using AVRs you can find
there.

However, even if you register there, nobody forces you to actually use
the forum then if you don't like it. Just download Bingo600's patch,
and get away again -- the forum won't throw stones after you, or write
you emails urging you to come back. ;-)

(Btw., if you are annoyed by all the stuff left and right of the forum
text, press the "Maximize" link in the linklist on top. It will give
you the forum, and just the forum, nothing else.)

I maintain them inside the FreeBSD ports tree. I loosely coordinate
the patches there with Eric Weddington, so while they are not
identical (the FreeBSD ports use some things differently, and I
omitted everything that was only there to get AVR-Ada going which I
didn't establish a port for yet) they should be not too far away from
the Windows AVR toolchain.

Bingo600's script is nothing else but a Linux wrapper around the
patches from my FreeBSD ports, so Linux users could eventually get the
same AVR tools FreeBSD users can get straight from their "ports"
system. It's only a convenience script, usually without any
functional changes.
