seems to fail using the following parameters
*s1={0xFF,0xFF,0xFF,0xFF,0xFF,0xFF};
*s2={0xFF,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x00};
n = 6;
expected result was >0
actual result was <0
the current inline code seems to expect signed characters
