Running my test (as discussed on libftdi) from yesterday with current SVN 1007
slow dowm enourmous: 

> ./avrdude -C ./avrdude.conf -c ftdijtag -p m16 -b 2000000 -U
> flash:r:test:i
Reading | ################################################## | 100% 27.46s

Grading down the USB system to 1.1 further slows down:
Reading | ##########################################         | 84% 60.60s

Going back to -r1006 gets back the speed.
Reading | ################################################## | 100% 0.44s
