Yes, for different *hardware* but not different versions of linux.

I installed the end user package for the Intel 686 machine:

address@hidden page]$ ls -l -d poly*.rpm
-rw-rw-r-- 1 page page 9995110 Jan 21 2005 polymake-2.1.0-2.i686.rpm

address@hidden page]$ uname -a
Linux axiom-developer.org 2.6.11.10-RH1956 #9 SMP Fri May 20 20:48:44
CDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
address@hidden page]$

--------

But this is a shared *virtual* server so although this is a i686 machine
maybe we do not get to use the whole i686 instruction set?

Did you install the i586 version?

I will download and install the i586 version and see if that corrects
the problem.

Regards,
Bill Page.
