You asked about a file called 'ph.awk'. I do not know this file, but ...

I have a copy of this from the original source distribution from
NAG. For some reason Tim Daly never included it in the open source
version. It appears to contain all the mechanism required to produce
both the Axiom Book and the hyperdoc .ht files from another source
form called .htex files. There are scripts here that extract Axiom
commands and run them to produce output that is inserted in the
.htex files to create .tex files.

Tim, is there any legal reason why you did not include the htex
directory in the open source version of Axiom?

Perhaps there is something here also to produce .pht files but
I did not find it right away. Also included in the htex directory
is the original tex linebreak program that is used on MathAction
and in the TeXmacs tm_axiom interface on Windows.
