So it worked while you were there. Was Anna's computer one of those four
in Papua that worked?

This is a big question. I remember that some settings got lost in some
very old versions of bibledit, but in newer versions I have yet to see
that happen.

With version 4.1 one can wait and wait, and nothing will be
synchronized. This is because in the recent versions of bibledit-gtk,
automatic synchronisation has been disabled. One needs to Send/Receive
to get synchronisation to work. It is in menu File / Projects.

In all these cases, try File / Projects / Send-Receive. Explanation
above.

Another way of doing this is to look into the System log. It would
indicate whether system synchronises its changes with the repository.
But of course, Send/Receive needs to be done first.
