The slightly newer version of biborb-1.2pre with the link field
does not have this `feature'.

It shows the abstract up with no problems with < character
It will leave the line lenghts as they are in the text entry box.

It has a problem though if you click on Manage:Update from BibTeX.

Following this error you cant see your database again.

Looking at the relevant .bib file 
line 13 is in the abstract, see below, which appears a little munged.
line 106 is the last line and it is blank.
