A news item from multiple sources that grabbed our attention this week involved 
a teenager in a small mid-Western town (certain identifying information has 
been deliberately omitted to guard the privacy of a minor) who was found with a 
very large sum of money.  It seems that the boy's mother was cleaning his room 
when she spied a crumpled brown paper bag suspiciously half-hidden under a 
skateboard in his closet. When the mother opened it she found over $71,000 in 
fives, tens, and twenties.  
 
"My first thought," she reported, "was that he had robbed a bank."  She 
immediately gathered the cash back into the bag and drove to the car dealership 
where the boys father worked, "for less money than that all year," the woman 
added.  Mother and father then drove to the boy's school and pulled him out of 
class.  Parents who feared the worst were taken home and shown on the child's 
computer how he had made all the money by selling information through email in 
an apparently legal program.  All of the money came to him in $5 bill's.  He 
said he had been riding his bicycle to different area banks, so no person at 
any one bank would get too suspicious about an underage person with a large sum 
of money. Each time he went in with $5,000 or so in $5 bills and told the clerk 
that his father was waiting for him outside and he wanted this money changed to 
10's and 20's.  Excited parents may join son in new "hobby" may have something
