problems with output of fig2dev

Hi,

I'm trying to concatenate a bunch of xfig slides into one big PS file.
This URL suggests that a2ps should help:
   http://cwrulug.cwru.edu/archive/cwrulug/200104/0286.html

I started with this figure file, j.fig:

#FIG 2.1
80 2
2 1 0 5 0 0 0 0 0.000 -1 0 0
         19 39 861 39 861 39 861 39 9999 9999
4 0 16 24 0 0 0 0.00000 4 29 292 41 393 University of Pennsylvania
4 0 18 24 0 0 0 0.00000 4 29 187 41 358 Jason M. Eisner
4 0 18 34 0 0 0 0.00000 4 38 526 37 92 Efficient NORMAL-FORM Parsing
4 0 18 24 0 -1 0 0.00000 4 29 434 39 138 for Combinatory Categorial Grammar
4 0 16 24 0 0 0 0.00000 4 29 232 41 428 June 26, 1996 at ACL

I converted it to j.ps as follows:

fig2dev -L ps -l dummy j.fig j.ps

Running it through a2ps produced a bizarre upside-down, mirror-imaged
version cropped from landscape to portrait but on a landscape page. I
tried some other a2ps options but to no avail.

Is the problem with a2ps, fig2dev, or me? (I've had no success either
with psmerge, psjoin, or mpage, so perhaps fig2dev makes funny output ...?)

Thanks! jason
