Left returns its left argument:

      1 ⊣ 2
1

Maybe this helps.

Thanks.  That operator is not on my keyboard, and cutting-and-pasting it into GNU APL (unless I am making a mistake) doesn't accept it either.

Am I missing something (like a better keyboard)?  Is that a standard (IBM defined) operator?
