[Bug-apl] make error in apl-1.5.tar.gz

downloaded "apll-1.5.tar.gz" today (11 Dec 2015 ) from tp://ftp.gnu.org

to build on a MAC running OS x 10.9.5

 <configure> completed with no errors, but <make> reported the following errors
