maybe the library version is wrong (just guessing).

Anyway, a better solution is to check-out the latest GNU APL version from the SVN repository, see

     https://savannah.gnu.org/svn/?group=apl

The RPMs are currently about one year behind, therefore they contain errors that have been
corrected in the meantime.
