Remember to cover the basics, that is, what you expected to happen and
what in fact did happen.

Be sure to consult the FAQ section in the manual before submitting
a bug report. If the bug (or problem) is triggered by a specific
(La)TeX file, you should try to produce a minimal sample file
showing the problem and include it in your report.

Your bug report will be posted to the AUCTeX bug reporting list.

Emacs : XEmacs 21.5 (beta24) "dandelion" (+CVS-20060208) [Lucid] (powerpc-apple-darwin8.4.0) of Thu Feb 9 2006 on tillina.fis.ucm.es
Package: 2006-02-09

Lately I have been experiencing a minor glitch when opening a dvi file with xdvi from within auctex (in xemacs). The problem is that the xdvi window disappears as soon as the pointer is over one of the icons in the toolbar. The command used by auctex to launch xdvi is like the following:

xdvi -sourceposition "1544 ex-sol.tex" -editor "/opt/local/bin/gnuclient -q +%l %f" ex-sol.dvi

Strangely, the problem occurs only with some tex files. And it only happens when xdvi is called by auctex (in xemacs), not when the above command is entered in a terminal window directly. Also, if I add the -nofork option by hand the problem is solved, and I could configure auctex to use -nofork when opening all dvi files, but if that's the case I wonder whether this option should not be a default in auctex. By the way, I'm using xdvik version 22.84.13-CVS8 (@(#)Motif Version 2.3.0, runtime version 2.3) under Mac Os X 10.4.5. I have sent a message similar to this to the xdvi list, and here's Stefan Ulrich's answer:
