When using starred secioning commands (like \subsection*{foo}), AUCTeX's
behavior could be a little more clever, namely:
- Currently, the next default suggestion (i.e. current LEVEL) does not
have the star. I guess it is rather uncommon that a starred
sectioning command is followed by an unstarred one of the same level.
I suggest to always add the star if the previous command was starred
(and no prefix is given); if you think it's necessary the user should
be able to customize that.
(I'm using starred sectioning commands mostly when writing simple
handouts or old-fashioned transparencies, and then I need them one
after the other.)
- If a starred command is chosen, the label selection dialog (calling
reftex?) is unnecessary and should be suppressed. Well, there are
cases where a label makes sense, in particular with nameref. But in
these rare cases a label can be inserted manually (or make it
customizable).
Many thanks for your work,
Frank
