[Bug-AUCTeX] cannot run tex/latex after installing CVS auctex

After installing the latest CVS auctex, I've run into a serious problem. Namely, whenever I try to run latex (or even plain tex) on a file compilation aborts with the following error:

Running `LaTeX' on `GVF' with ``latex -src-specials " - interaction=nonstopmode\input{GVF.tex}"''
This is pdfeTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.30.4-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.5)
Source specials enabled.
%&-line parsing enabled.
entering extended mode
! I can't find file `" -interaction=nonstopmode"'.
<to be read again>
                   \let
<*> " -interaction=nonstopmode\input
                                    {GVF.tex}"
Please type another input file name:

Obviously, there is some problem with tex/latex interpreting everything after the option "-interaction" as a file name, but I haven't been to fix the problem. Any help will be appreciated!

Cheers,

Artemio
