[Bug-AUCTeX] minor annoyance when opening tex file in carbon emacs

Subject: [Bug-AUCTeX] minor annoyance when opening tex file in carbon emacs

I am experiencing a minor annoyance when opening tex files in carbon emacs 21.1.1 (he one provided by Apple with Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard"). Namely, immediately after the file is opened it is marked as "not saved", so that if I close it without making any changes I am asked if I would like to save it, etc. I think this is an auctex thing, since it does not happen when I open other text files, or if I don't load auctex. Is there any setting I have unknowingly activated which is responsible for this strange behavior? Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Artemio
