[Bug-AUCTeX] recursive require |

Just updated AUCTeX with ELPA to version 11.87.5. The Compile-Log produces a
long list of warnings and errors. The error messages appear for around 15
el-files and look like this:
context-en.el:32:1:Error: Recursive load:
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex-site.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex-site.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex-site.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex-site.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/tex-buf.el",
"/home/salome/.emacs.d/elpa/auctex-11.87.5/context.el"
The compilation process was not interrupted but continued and everything seemd
fine.
When I now open emacs, there is the following error message in the *Messages*
buffer:
Error: (error "Recursive `require' for feature `tex-site'")
Emacs starts up smoothly, though, and again everything seems fine.
But when I open a tex-file the Local Variable TeX-engine is not recognized and
the AUCTeX functions are nowhere.
Before the update everything was ok. Is there a bug in 11.87.5 or do I have to
change some settings? (which??)
Any help is highly appreciated!
Salome
