automake test suite error: spy.test

Subject: automake test suite error: spy.test

Greetings:

I am building automake 1.9.5 on Solaris 9 (sparc) with GNU make 3.80,
GNU m4 1.4, and perl 5.6.1. When I run the test suite, spy.test
fails. I've found one other exchange over this issue, dealing with
automake 1.9.3 and Solaris 8, at
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-automake/2004-11/msg00041.html
with the apparently identical problem.

I've attached the output from spy.test.
