Hurmf, Can't suspend
$ read important_variable_1 important_variable_2
with C-z.

I mean it was the chief, he called wanting the answer to 2+2, so I
wanted to suspend my careful input of these two variables for a quick
delve into bc(1).  But no, due to some higher principle, one may only
enter C-c here, etc.

Anyways, if the 'read' is in a script one can C-z out if necessary,
but not in the interactive shell...

Look mom, my BQ [bug quotient] has advanced 1, gaining me more respect
around here, as Rodney Dangerfield says.
