Note that gcc has

#define STARTFILE_PREFIX_SPEC                   \
   "/lib" XLEN_SPEC "/" ABI_SPEC "/ "           \
   "/usr/lib" XLEN_SPEC "/" ABI_SPEC "/ "       \
   "/lib/ "                                     \
   "/usr/lib/ "

but that isn't necessarily correct either depending on the OS and distro.
