 Thanks for the solutions:

  The regex stuff for debian is in libc and we have also a deb-package installed
  for this: librx1g-dev
  When this package is removed the cf* executables will run ;-)

  The patch supplied for IRIX works. Do you want the output of the unix
  'netstat' command or the output of the cfenvd daemon?
