Our cf.resolv looks like this (Not really, but you get the idea):

192.168.1.3
192.168.1.4
"domain ourdomain.net"
"search ourdomain.net thatdomain.org"

Works as designed.
from a man page `man resolv.conf`  (checked solaris + fbsd);

The domain and search keywords are mutually exclusive. If
more than one instance of these keywords is present, the
    last instance takes precedence.

Thanks, I had missed the part about those two being exclusive.
However, I still don't understand how adding the 'search
ourdomain.net' is 'working as designed' as there are already one
extra keyword, and adding /another/ extra mutually exclusive keyword
won't exactly help...

Correct.

Anyway, I changed our cf.resolv to just have the 'search' part
included. Then cfengine decided to add 'domain ourdomain.net' at the
end of /etc/resolv.conf, something I'd think is /not/ working as
designed, since they're supposed to be mutually exclusive...

Sorry missed that one, looks like a bug.

So, to rephrase the question, how do I tell cfengine that I want to be
able to search two domains when I lookup hostnames?

As workaround use 'copy' (file) instead of 'resolve' ?

Good luck,
Tjeerd.
