Please try this on GNU Classpath CVS HEAD + JamVM 1.3.2.  That is where all
Swing development happens.  Likely some of the problems you're seeing have been
fixed already.  Then, if you are still seeing problems, report them
individually, preferably each with their own test case.  For example, it would
be much easier for us if you'd create a test case that demonstrates the 
specific 
javax.swing.JLayeredPane problem you're seeing.
