Thor,

CommonC++ works best with Visual Studio under Win32, so you should have no problems. There is a project file in the win32 directory. Be aware though that most of the development is going on in the linux portion of the code, then is ported over to the win32, so features sometimes lag behind in the win32 code and the win32 port is sometimes broken. If you are going to use it, you should subscribe to the various mailing lists to track the development and bugs.

Hi,

I have been looking for a standard API for threading and sockets and I
believe that I have found it in CommonC++. I installed it fine on Linux,
however it also mentions that

"Common C++ offers support and portable classes for threading and sockets
for both UNIX (Posix systems with "pthread" support) and the Windows "Win32"
API"

The readme files mentions very briefly something about GNU under Win32, but
I could not make that out further.

If I cannot install it under Win32 (I am using Visual Studio) is there any
way that I can manually add all the files I need to my own project? I have
tried this but have run into a lot of compiling issues.

I would like to end up with a standard API that I can use on both Linux and
Windows.

Brgds,

Thor List
