It doesn't. Also if I use
use bytes;
in Fetish.pm, it doesn't work either. Maybe the 'use bytes' declaration
applies only to the file it sits in? (Well that would be if it was
designed logically but, heck, perl isn't logically designed!)
The only thing that works for me is this:

Whereas
eval 'use bytes';
seems to have no effect.
