I can't reproduce this bug in my environment
(GNU coreutils 5.3.0, Debian GNU/Linux 3.0r1).
Perhaps the bug has been fixed in 5.3.0?
You can check this by building 5.3.0 and running its
"date" command. Here it is:
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/coreutils-5.3.0.tar.gz
Or it's possible that it's a bug in your C runtime library;
if so, you'd have to investigate that with your debugger.
