Can you please email to <address@hidden> the complete output of
"./configure --prefix=/opt/coreutils_mips
--host=mipsel-unknown-linux-gnu" and "make"?  That will help us
diagnose the problem.

PS.  Why did you need the --host argument?  It should be deduced
automatically.
