A problem with it is figuring out how to add lots of options to sort.
We're running out of letters. This one probably doesn't deserve a
single letter. And yet single letters are the only syntax we
currently have for sorting different fields with different options.
There's also the problem of implementing it correctly -- it's a bit
trickier than one might think, especially if you want powers-of-2
rather than powers-of-10.
