Yes, this is an issue for md5sum, as well as for sha*sum (since they share
the same parsing engine of the checksum file). I've been meaning to look
at providing a patch that would emit an escape sequence "\\r" instead of
'\r' when it is encountered in a filename, and to silently ignore \r at
the end of lines, but have not gotten around to it yet.
