You may get better response by asking your questions on the cygwin mailing
list, then.
> C:\>rm.exe -f \\networkdrive\sharedfolder\cygwin\*.*
Cygwin prefers that you use unix-y style paths:
rm -f //networkdrive/sharedfolder/cygwin/*.*
It may be that your use of \ is causing your problems. But again, the
cygwin list is a better place to ask.
