RE: cp command in linux issue

Just want to inform you guys that:



address@hidden scripts]# cp -Run <source_directory> <destination>/.

cp: invalid option -- n

Try `cp --help' for more information.

And I'm not using aliases for my cp command.  I am though using Red Hat Linux 
4.8 which I'm finding out arguments are not consistent from Linux/Unix OS 
companies.



I'll try the rsync but it sound like it is more of a server-client app.  I 
thought the guy who wrote this cp command for Red Hat could help to have the 
option to remove prompts with the -f option.

As I already mentioned, try cp -un.  And if that doesn't do what you want,

then look into rsync.  For that matter, rsync is better for copying over

slow connections, because it uses compression to speed up the bottleneck

of transfer rates.
