Both upgrading and not upgrading are quite viable strategies.   If you
download a recent release you can read the NEWS file to see what's
changed.   Briefly summarising those changes are:

- support for "sccs diffs" and various options to existing commands
- support for the "x" and "y" file flags (introduced by the SCO and
Solaris implementations respectively)
- a bugfix for "sccs unedit"
- various compilation fixes to support newer compilers, for example
versions of GCC released in the 7 years or so since 0.16alpha.pl0 was
released.

I'm also about to check in a few fixes to "prs" (for example to "prs
-e -rX s.foo").
