hello,

I'm using mac os x 10.4.7 with ddrescue 1.7 to rescue a 80gb 2.5" harddisk, that I connected via firewire.

on the hard disk should be 55gb of files, ddrescue copie 49749mb into the an image.

but now ddrescue seems to stuck:

About to copy an undefined number of Bytes from /dev/disk3s3 to / Volumes/300gb/copiedvolu.dmg
    Starting positions: infile = 0 B, outfile = 0 B
Copy block size: 128 hard blocks
Hard block size: 512 bytes
Max_retries: 1
Direct: no Sparse: no Split: yes Truncate: no

Press Ctrl-C to interrupt
Initial status (read from logfile)
rescued: 49833 MB, errsize: 6888 kB, errors: 75
Current status
rescued: 49840 MB, errsize: 10291 kB, current rate: 0 B/s
   ipos: 49850 MB, errors: 100, average rate: 3470 B/s
   opos: 49850 MB
Copying data...

after I startet ddrescue again I can see with the activity-led of the hard drive enclosure, that ddrescue is doing something, but the above mentioned data doesn't change and after approximately 10 minutes the activity-led goes off.

I read somewhere, that ddrescue tries automatically to use a reverse mode to start from the end of the hard disk, if it comes with the normal way to defective parts of the hard disk,

so I would like to now, is this now the maximum result I can achieve or are there any tricks I could try?

50GB of 55GB is a really good result, but unfortunately on the image- file my entourage email database has only 600mb, but it should be 2GB, so I would like to try more things.

I already tried this options:
--max-retries=1
-r1
but they didn't help.

thx!

regards,

ferdinand
