Personally I would use ddrescuelog to generate a list of bad sectors and then see if from some point on ddrescue was unable to read any more data. If that's the case, readjust the rescue domain to a point before that. Maybe that's where the written data ends and in any case it would allow you to concentrate first on reading areas that can be read faster.

Have you tried mounting mem1.iso (or a copy thereof) as a loop device? Depending on how corrupted the image is and which areas are affected, this might give you an indication of how much data is stored on the disc.

Finally, when it comes to optical media I would try different drives/computers.
